Masoumeh Alinejad-Ghomi is an Iranian American journalist, author, and political activist who advocates for women and girls, suffering under Sharia laws in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

She has created a documentary about the victims of the acid attack in Iran. Acid attack is a widespread practice under sharia law in the Muslim world to punish women and girls who have violated "morality laws" Which in practice mean disobeying the "male guardian" or harming the "family honor".

Under Saudi law, all females must have a male guardian, typically a father, brother, husband or uncle. Girls and women are forbidden from traveling, conducting official business, or undergoing certain medical procedures without permission from their male guardians.

The video (embedded below) posted on social media with the following description:

"...Her name is Massoumeh Ataei. She is an acid attack victim from Iran.
The government in Iran censored her voice (and those of hundreds of women like her).

She also has to deal with internet-filtering.

But Massoumeh refuses to be a victim. She's the true icon of a strong woman..."
