Ousted Egyptian President and Islamist Mohamed Morsi Suffers Heart Attack in Court, Dies — Was Supported by Obama

The trial of former Egyptian president and Muslim Brotherhood leader was launched in Cairo in 2014.
The Islamist president was ousted in a coup in 2013.
The Obama administration demanded that Egypt release Morsi after his detention following the coup.
During his 2014 trial the noticeably upset former president was placed in a sound-proof cage during the proceedings which aired on state television.

Morsi faced the death penalty in trial for prison escape.

Morsi was separated from other defendants for the trial over charges from prison breaks during the country’s 2011 revolution.
An Egyptian court in Egypt later sentenced 529 supporters of ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi to death after a mass trial in March 2014.
On Monday Mohemed Morsi collapsed in court and later died of a heart attack.
CNN reported:
Ousted Egyptian President Mohamed Morsy, who was the country’s first democratically elected leader, has died, according to Egyptian state media.
Morsy, 67, had been on trial for an espionage case when he suffered a heart attack, Egypt’s state-run Al Ahram online reported.
He had been granted a request to make a statement before he fainted and passed away, state media said. The former president has been taken to an unnamed hospital, it added.
