Iran executed a Canadian journalist - The UN is silent to avoid damaging Islam's image

The United Nations announced on March 13, 2019 that Iran will get a seat on the U.N. women’s rights committee which judges complaints alleging violations of women’s rights.

On July 11, 2003, an Iranian-Canadian journalist, Zahra Kazemi, was pronounced dead at Baghyatollah military hospital in Tehran.

The Canadian/Iranian photojournalist Zahra Kazemi was arrested for photographing Evin prison in Tehran. She was raped and badly beaten in custody before the interrogators realised she was a Canadian citizen. She died of her injuries in prison.

Since the day after her burial, Stephan, Zahra Kazami’s only child, has been demanding exhumation of her body and its transfer to Canada. There is no justice for the women in Iran!

The appointment of Iran, a regime that tortures women’s rights defenders, and which arrests women who fail to comply with its misogynystic forced hijab law, was gaveled by Ireland’s Geraldine Byrne Nason, Chair of the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

Ireland came under heavy criticism from members of its parliament in 2017 for voting to elect Saudi Arabia to the commission.

Iran is the world’s biggest jailer of Innocent women including journalists, rape victims, women's rights activities and even artists, singers, dancers, etc.

There is no freedom for the women of Iran.
