President Donald Trump had a howling good time at the expense of “poor bastard” and former Democrat presidential candidate Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke.
The president held a rally in Mississippi on Friday and took aim at the man who wants to take Americans’ guns, as he left the race for president.
“Beto, oh that poor bastard,” President Trump said at the jam packed rally to the applause and laughter of the crowd.
“Poor pathetic guy. He was pathetic. Remember the arms were flailing?” the president said of the former candidate.
“I used to watch him, but when he came onto the really big stage, this crazy stage, I noticed he was flailing with the arms and standing on tables.
“He was standing on countertops. I said, ‘Does he ever, like, stand on the floor and speak?’ But he’s waving his arms going crazy, and I said, ‘What the hell is he doing? What is he on?'” he said.
“But Beto was nasty, and he said that he was born for it. Like he was born from heaven, he came down, the president said.
“And if that’s the case, some really bad things happened because he made a total fool of himself,” he said.
It was not the first shot that he took at the now former candidate and head of the Democrat gun grabbing brigade.
When O’Rourke announced his departure from the campaign for the Democrat presidential nomination the president pounced on Twitter.
“Oh no, Beto just dropped out of race for President despite him saying he was ‘born for this.’ I don’t think so!” he said.
He was joined by his son, and known avid Hunter Donald trump Jr., who also took a strip off of Beto and his anti-gun agenda.
“I guess he isn’t coming for my ARs any more???” he said in the moments after the former Texas Congressman announced that he was done with the campaign.
“Our campaign has always been about seeing clearly, speaking honestly, and acting decisively. In that spirit: I am announcing that my service to the country will not be as a candidate or as the nominee,” O’Rourke said.
“I am grateful to all the people who made up the heart and soul of this campaign. You were among the hundreds of thousands who made a donation, signed up to volunteer or spread the word about this campaign and our opportunity to help decide the election of our lifetime,” he said.
