Muslim Man Runs For Congress In Georgia


Rashid Malik is a Democratic candidate for U.S. House of Representatives in Georgia’s 7th Congressional District.
According to Ballotpedia, Malik was a 2016 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 7th Congressional District of Georgia. Malik was a 2012 Democratic candidate for District 105 of the Georgia House of Representatives. He was also a 2010 Democratic candidate for District 9 of the Georgia State Senate.
Malik is a muslim man who was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He came to the United States in 1979.
In several Facebook posts, Malik calls on muslims to “come forward” and “rebuild OUR America” and asks his fellow muslims, “What are we afraid of?” In one of his posts, Malik wrote:
We are Muslim Americans! We perpetually rebuild our America. Work on the future, work on our children! Muslim Americans! What are we afraid of? This is OUR America and we rebuild our America Again! Participate and Vote! Dr. Rashid Malik, US Congress, District 7, GA 2020!
In another Facebook post, Malik wrote:

Malik is a Hillary Clinton supporter.
According to Malik’s website, his top priorities are Medicare for All, Minimum Wage, Green New Deal, Corporate Tax Reform, Prison System Reform, Tuition Free College, Gun Safety, Jobs, Women’s Rights.
On Malik’s website, it states:
We should have common-sense gun laws in place. We need universal background check, genetic test, psychological test and training for anyone who wants to keep guns with a permit. But no Guns for Mass Murdering should be allowed in the hands of common citizens. 
Malik is running against 6 other candidates in the Democratic primary election, including another muslim candidate, Nabilah Islam.
Malik and Islam are two of several muslims running for Congress in the 2020 elections.
The primary election is on May 19, 2020.
