REPORT: Pelosi Rejects Calls To Shutter Congress Amid Coronavirus Fears

Democrats and their allies in the media have spent weeks trying to weaponize the coronavirus in order to attack President Donald Trump.
Trump and several top health officials are doing just about everything to ensure the public is safe, but Democrats continue to attack him.
Now, after claiming the Trump administration is bungling the handling of the virus, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is refusing to let lawmakers leave Washington, D.C.
House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler on Tuesday said Democrats should flee D.C. as the coronavirus continues to spread across the United States.
Pelosi immediately shut down the idea in a closed-door caucus meeting on the deadly illness.
“We are the captains of the ship. We are the last to leave,” Pelosi responded, The Hill reports.
Concerns about a possible coronavirus outbreak in the Capitol have grown as several lawmakers have self-quarantined after coming into contact with infected individuals.
Five Republicans, including Trump’s incoming chief of staff, Rep. Mark Meadows, have quarantined themselves are coming into contact with someone with the virus at the recent Conservative Political Action Conference.
“While he’s experiencing zero symptoms, under doctors’ standard precautionary recommendations, he’ll remain at home until the 14-day period expires this Wednesday,” said Ben Williamson, Meadows’ chief of staff.
Florida GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz, who flew with Trump aboard Air Force One on Monday, announced he would be taking two weeks of self-imposed isolation after coming into contact at CPAC with the person diagnosed with the virus.
Gaetz announced on Tuesday that he tested “negative” and did not have the coronavirus.
In a separate situation, California Democratic Rep. Julia Brownley said she has self-isolated herself after having come into contact last week in Washington, D.C., with a person who has tested positive for the virus.
Amazing to see Pelosi go from claiming the president isn’t taking the threat seriously to now refusing to let lawmakers work from home and away from the Capitol for safety reasons.
While Democrats and their allies in the media have tried weaponizing the virus to attack Trump, the president is literally using his own money to help keep Americans safe.
The White House announced that the president gave his quarterly salary to the Department of Health and Human Services in the effort to combat the coronavirus.
Trump has not accepted his presidential salary — which is $400,000 per year — and each quarter he donates $100,000 to a different government agency.
One of the big issues in the United States is that the mainstream media has been running endless doom-and-gloom segments for weeks and acting as if the president is not doing anything to combat the spread of the coronavirus.
That is simply not true.
Two well-known doctors who appear on cable news often have come forward to slam the media for continuing to push fears about coronavirus.
Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Dr. Drew Pinsky reminded viewers that the coronavirus has a 98 percent survival rate, even higher when it infects healthy people, and 80 percent of those who get it have little to no symptoms.
“Luckily, again, it seems that the vast majority of people will have minimal or no symptoms but this could be something that we deal with as a world now in the weeks and months going forward,” Gupta said.
Pinsky — who many refer to as Dr. Drew — had a much more pointed message for the media.
“The press is overreacting, and it makes me furious!” Pinsky said.
“People that are infectious disease specialists, the CDC, the epidemiologists, need to take this very seriously. The press needs to shut up!” he said. “You’re more likely to die of influenza right now.”
